Spread Holiday Cheer with The Forgotten Patient
This holiday season, Koala Clean Utah is proud to support the Utah State Hospital’s Forgotten Patient Project. Being at the hospital over the holidays can be a very lonely and difficult time for patients. This initiative helps ensure every patient feels remembered and cared for during the holidays. Your donations can bring warmth, comfort, and joy to patients who need it most.
What to Donate
We’re collecting thoughtful unwrapped gifts for patients of all ages. You’re welcome to include cards for patients, just don’t include your address or contact information. Donations will be accepted through December 11 so we can put together some stockings and donate to the Utah State Hospital on December 12th.
Suggested Items
Clothing & Accessories
- Clothing, shoes (no laces), coats
- Socks (ankle or crew only; no long or tube socks)
- Winter gloves, winter hats, slippers
- Hats (baseball type), sunglasses
- Underwear, T-shirts
Personal Care
- Shampoo & conditioner
- Lotion, aftershave or body spray (no metal, glass, or alcohol-based items)
- Deodorant, hairbrushes, combs
- Women’s makeup (no glass or mirrors)
Entertainment & Activities
- Handheld games, easy craft kits (foam or paper are ideal)
- Word search puzzles, adult coloring books, crayons
- Posters, current magazines, books, journals
- Comic books, stationary and stamps
- Current year calendars/daily planner booklets (no spirals)
- Card games, playing cards
For Children (Ages 6–12)
- Toys, puzzles, coloring supplies
Treats & Snacks
- Candy bars, wrapped candy, and mints
- Mixed nuts, chips, corn nuts, trail mix
- Beef jerky, granola bars, other snacks
- Rolls of quarters (for adult vending machine use only)
Items NOT Allowed
To ensure safety and appropriateness, please avoid donating the following:
- Long socks, shoes with laces
- Razors, sharp items (scissors, pocket knives, nail clippers, pins)
- Glass containers, metal cans/boxes, aerosol cans
- Candy canes, mouthwash, perfume, or items containing alcohol
- Dental floss, loofah sponges/scrubbers
- Underwire bras
- Spiral notebooks with metal
